Apprenticeship application checklist
Advice and tips to help you get the best results from your application
Apprenticeship application tips
- Double-check that your personal details, such as your home address, are correct.
- Keep your business and private life separate by creating an email address specifically for apprenticeships. To an employer discofever666@gmail.com does not sound as dependable as emma.jenkins1994@gmail.com.
- You won't be able to pick up all your phone calls, so remember to update your answer-phone message to ensure it sounds businesslike.
- As well as teachers, career advisors and friends it's also useful to speak to other apprentices. More details are available on www.horsesmouth.co.uk.
- List all your qualifications, and include your predicted grades with confidence.
- Wherever possible, provide working examples to back up your experience.
- Make sure you can travel to the job – often apprenticeships are on sites out of town.
- Apply for more than one job – always keep your options open.
