The University

The University of Hull dates from 1928, and has a well-deserved reputation for the very highest standards in education. It is a medium-sized university of around 15,000 students, pleasantly situated on the northern edge of the city of Hull. The on-site Library, accommodation, Students’ Union and extensive Sports and Leisure Facilities are major features in the University’s continuing popularity. The National Student Survey has placed us in the top 20 mainstream English universities.

School of Engineering

The School of Engineering has a record of providing innovative courses, and a supportive learning environment which allows students to maximise their potential. BEng and MEng programmes are accredited by the appropriate Professional Institutions.

Staff/Student Numbers and Yearly Intake

  • Number of students 800 with yearly intake of 250
  • Number of postgraduates 60+

We offer a wide range of MEng and BEng programmes in the areas of:

  • Chemical Engineering
  • Electrical/Electronic Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Biomedical Engineering 

With more specialist options in Automotive, Energy and Control & Instrumentation Engineering.

The programmes also offer the opportunity for a year in industry or study abroad.

We also offer MSc programmes in the same areas.

Four year BEng programmes, which include a foundation year, are available for those not qualified for direct entry to the MEng/BEng programmes. In addition, we offer our Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical/Electronic Engineering and Control and Instrumentation BEng degrees in a part-time (day-release) format.

Entry Requirements

  • MEng 300 points including maths B
  • BEng 280 points including maths C 
  • 4 year BEng - considered on an individual basis
  • Other qualifications are accepted – all candidates are considered on an individual basis
