Free membership for 16-19 students

Careers in physics and engineering
Amongst the many career options available to physics and engineering graduates is teaching physics. Teaching is hands-on and practical, which makes it an ideal career choice for engineering graduates.

We’re so keen to see more physics and engineering graduates teaching in the classroom that we’re offering £30,000 tax-free scholarships to help graduates get there. Our physics teacher training scholarship scheme supports outstanding graduates both financially and academically by providing:

•£30,000 tax-free funding
•Free IOP membership for the teacher training year
•Early career mentoring from experienced physics teachers
•Networking events and educational trips exclusively for scholars throughout the teacher training year.
