Engineering Opportunities - who we are and what we do
Who we are
Engineering Opportunities (EO) is an annual engineering careers and training guide. Over 30,000 copies are distributed to students around the UK.
EO is produced by the IMechE and supported by major engineering institutions such as the IET, IOP, IChemE and ICE. The magazine is researched and written by the Professional Engineering (PE) editorial team who also maintain the website. For more information about PE visit profeng.com. EO is published by Caspian Media.
What we do
Engineering Opportunities website and magazine provide information and advice for school leavers, students and graduates.
The magazine sections cover:
- what engineering actually is
- engineering in school classrooms
- engineering apprenticeships
- engineering courses at university
- graduate careers and what it's like to work as an engineer
- course and sponsorship listings
Future aims
Our new website will be continually updated to provide information and practical advice to people of all ages and backgrounds who are contemplating a career in engineering.
Visitors to our site will also find the latest college and university course listings as well as training, sponsorship and corporate opportunities with leading companies in the UK.
As well as essential tips and advice, the website will include special guest blogs, columns and Q&A articles.
We will be speaking directly to apprentices, students and graduates in their first jobs to find out what they really think about their study and career choices. They will also share their top tips for success - make sure you don't miss these if you're thinking about studying engineering or working as an engineer.
Some of the major issues affecting students at present, such as the increase in tuition fees and engineering skills shortages will also be highlighted and discussed.
